The Tsetse Fly

The tsetse fly is considered a deadly nuisance in Africa. What makes it so lethal is  the disease it carries- sleeping sickness. It causes certain death if left untreated, but current medicine will always cure it if treated early enough. Some techniques used to get rid of tsetse flies are killing their main food source: livestock, getting rid of land that tsetse flies live on, using mesh nets sprayed with pesticides that they fly into, and releasing sterile males. There are three kinds of tsetse flies: riverine, savannah, and forest.
